Character Counts: Resilience | Wisdom Wonder Project

This month’s character trait, resilience, takes some nuanced practice to master. Because sometimes, we need a good cry when we fall. Sometimes, we need to embrace failure and our weaknesses. We don’t need to be strong all the time. This is also resilience, on the other side of the coin—finding strength in our own weakness or inability to do it all. But at first thought, being a person who cries when they are hurt feels counterintuitive to being resilient—definitely not the pull yourself up by the bootstraps brand anyway. To this effect, I like the way we define resilience, as the ability to recover strength, determination, spirit, flexibility, and good humor in the face of change, mistakes, and trials. Planning for Pandemic Math Instructional Gaps

Post pandemic planning is definitely NOT the same as pre-pandemic planning. The students are missing instruction from multiple grade levels in addition to the gaps that were there before the Pandemic.

As a result of the missing instructional content, the pacing of my lessons is off and how much content I can cover during one class period is sporadic. Some days depending on the content I can teach what I’ve actually planned for that day.

Most physicists work full time, mainly working in theoretical research, applied research, and developmental roles. A master’s degree in physics combines advanced coursework with laboratory research in astrophysics, biophysics, material physics, or nonlinear dynamics. It prepares graduates to work as teachers in educational institutions or as scientists in research and development labs.

Other work areas include Aerospace industry, Business, Computer programmer or analyst, Data analysis, Medicine, Engineering, Defense industry, Information technology, and computer software, Manufacturing.

As per the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data of May 2019, the mean annual wage for physicists was $131,080. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $62,470, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $201,990.

The BLS has projected that from 2018-2028, jobs for physicists would increase by 9%.

M.S. in Physics graduates may choose to pursue more advanced education in the form of a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics. Students
